Since 2012, AAUW North Tahoe has granted more than $40,000 in scholarship awards to outstanding, high-school graduating, female students who meet the following criteria:
- Reside within the North Lake Tahoe High School attendance area
- Intend to enter a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) field at a four-year college/university
- Demonstrate financial need and have submitted a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for her freshman year
To be considered for an AAUW North Tahoe STEM Scholarship, female students are to complete the uniform Tahoe Truckee Community Scholarship Application which is available from high school counselors and online at nths.ttusd.org. Applications are evaluated for the following:
- Scholastic achievement
- Community activity, work history and school extracurricular activities
- Personal qualities
- Financial need based on FAFSA-determined Student Aid Index (SAI)
- Letter of recommendation
