AAUW-NT is committed to advancing equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy, and research. AAUW-NT provides scholarships annually to graduating young women residing in the North Tahoe High School attendance area who intend to pursue STEM studies and have financial need.
The American Association of University Women North Tahoe Branch (AAUW-NT) has awarded $8,000 in scholarships to two highly accomplished students from North Tahoe High School in 2025-26. The scholarships celebrate young women who are keenly interested in science, technology, engineering or math (STEM) careers. These grants bring AAUW-NT’s total scholarship awards to $49,500 for 18 deserving young women since 2012 thanks to the generosity of its North Tahoe and Truckee members.
This year’s AAUW-NT STEM Scholarship awardees are Andrea G.R. and Avala W. Each will receive a grant of $4,000 to pursue STEM studies at university. Andrea graduated from North Tahoe High School with a 3.9 GPA and will begin studies in Health Sciences at the University of Nevada Reno this fall. She aspires to work in a medical field. Avala graduated from North Tahoe High School with a 3.7 GPA and will pursue studies in Marine Biology at the University of California-Santa Cruz. She is keen to make a positive impact on ocean health.
To be considered for an AAUW North Tahoe STEM Scholarship, female students are to complete the uniform Tahoe Truckee Community Scholarship Application which is available from high school counselors and online at nths.ttusd.org. Applications are evaluated for the following:
- Scholastic achievement
- Community activity, work history and school extracurricular activities
- Personal qualities
- Financial need based on FAFSA-determined Student Aid Index (SAI)
- Letter of recommendation
